Sleeper of the Day

Sam Hensley
2025 Calvary Day
Offensive Guard

Hensley was a dependable offensive lineman for one of the top offenses in the state of Georgia in 2023. The junior lined up across the line of scrimmage and proved to be one of the more versatile blockers in his classification. He was an All-State HM pick on the site. His versatility should translate over to the next level, where Hensley looks to be a solid swing lineman. I wouldn’t even rule out playing center considering his frame. That adds a lot of value to his recruiting stock and is something colleges are discounting at the moment. We like Hensley’s frame, he plays with a good base and utilizes his strong lower body to drive defenders out of the play. He consistently earned a few pancakes each game, several of which earned him recognition for our weekly bully squad. Hensley needs to get more explosive at the point of attack. He has pretty light feet and is reactive to the defender while in pass protection. Needs to continue to work on his body control while engaged and continue to strengthen his core strength. That should help with his consistency when finishing off a block. Hensley does look to have pretty good flexibility and naturally light feet, as he continues to get stronger, he looks like a pretty high-upside interior offensive lineman. Hensley has been working hard this offseason going to various camps like Penn, James Madison, Richmond, etc., racking up nearly 5100 miles of total travel for the senior. You can not doubt his level of commitment, and we are excited to see how Hensley’s recruitment develops over the next few months.

Commitments

Josiah Allen
2025 Wheeler
Cornell

Allen is one of the active rushing leaders in the state with over 3k yards during his career. Now, if you consider that Allen plays in the highest classification in the state, you realize his productivity is truly impressive. Cornell lands a quick-footed all-purpose back who can dart out of tackles and does a good job of throwing defenders off their pursuit angles by changing tempo in the open field.

Three ‘n Out

Aquinas sophomore Jaden Wuerth had a great season last fall totaling 14 sacks and 36 tackles for a loss in Class A DII. Aquinas now jumps up to 3A, so the class of ’27 defensive lineman will be tested. He’s coming into the season 25 lbs. heavier, which is largely credited to his work in the weight room where Wuerth has seen maxes of 375 on the bench and a 525 squat respectively. Talking with someone around the AJC and the name David Pollack was thrown around as a comparison, but somehow doubt the legendary defensive end was this big and strong at 15. All of that aside, I’m not sure 3A is quite ready for Wuerth this fall.

Score Atlanta hosted a Georgia High School Football Media Day yesterday in Atlanta at the Mechanical Trades Institute Building. Dozens of schools were in attendance. Today, they are in Macon and you can watch the live stream by following the link in the tweet below.

Lastly, had to share this epic rain video coming from Carrollton yesterday. Not much else to say, just happy to have football back, and this was cool.
