Recruiting Recap 7/20

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Today is a big day of course around the state, the GHSA will be making a ruling on fall sports (at least for the time being). I’m sure that is what everyone is looking at today, but take a moment and checkout our summer commitment list we put together last night – CLICK HERE!

As you all know, this feature covers all of the offers over the weekend, any commitments and will also have a sleeper of the day. If there is an uptick in offers, we’ll do a heating up feature, but for the last 3 weeks there has only been about 10 players getting offered per day.

Outside of that, I hope everyone is preparing for the fall. No one can control what happens, but at the very least we can be prepared – I know we are doing that over here.

Sleeper of the Day

Jalon Baker
2021 Lowndes

Baker has excellent activity and reacts quickly to the football. He engages quickly with a block, getting very good leverage and scrapes off. Does a very good job of setting the edge. The 2021 recruit has a nice feel for the game, and definitely an asset in run support. Checking out his junior year film, and their was quality production for one of the best defenses in the state. Even dropped back and returned two interceptions for a score, which bodes well for his potential at SS. Extremely coordinated, he had another interception on the year where he jumped up and timed the pass catching the ball about 10 feet away from the QB’s release. Plays with a huge motor and his quickness getting into the backfield is legit. Very good acceleration. Baker is a legit D1 football player. He needs to continue to bulk up, work on hip quickness and man coverage, but he can definitely play SS at the next level, especially thrive in a nickle based defense. Very good tackler, really like his upside to defense the screen pass. Baker holds offers from App State, Tenn Tech, Tenn State and Savannah State – his most recent one coming back on May 13th.
