Recruiting Recap 6/4

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Thanks to everyone who is stopping by to see the latest news around the state. This feature will highlight yesterday’s offers, commitments, also three players who are heating up, and of course our sleeper of the day.

Hopefully everyone is getting ready for a productive summer! I know with the dead period being extended another month in basically August that there has been some uncertainty around a lot of player’s recruitment. The best thing to do is control what you can! All we can do is focus on the task at hand, and not get distracted – that’s true for all aspects of life. If you do you have offers in hand, I would think long and hard about your eventual commitment. Commitments are starting to uptick, and you do not want to minimize your decision making process because you waited too long.

As always, I hope everyone is staying safe out there! – David

Three Heating Up

Holden Geriner
2022 Benedictine

The class of 2022 quarterback has seen a huge leap in college interest recently. Just yesterday Geriner earned offers from Tenn and Michigan. Since the start of April FAU, LSU, Kentucky, West Virginia, East Carolina and Cincinnati have also offered too. The efficient signal-caller for the Cadets has a strong sophomore season, and one thing that stands out is how well Geriner spreads the football around to his teammates.

Noah DeMerritt
2022 Camden Co.

DeMeritt only has offers from Georgia Tech and Nebraska, but we can see his recruitment really heating up here in the month of June. The 6’6″ +300 lbs. linemen is an earth-moving blocker and can just bully defenders with his shear size. He moves pretty well too, pulling on some plays, getting out in space and bulldozing defenders. DeMeritt relishes contact and consistently works his opponent. He still has less than 40 views on his sophomore highlight at the moment, but can imagine once more schools look at his film that they will jump in with an offer. Definitely worth monitoring his recruitment for the foreseeable future here.

Dante Edwards-Tidwell
2021 North Murray

The speed all-purpose back/cornerback has run the fastest laser time of 4.65 in our combine history, and that’s out of 400 athletes now. Both Army and Navy have now offered the explosive playmaker. Unfortunately, with the camp season being suspended, Edwards-Tidwell would have earned a lot of offers with a stop watch, but our laser 40 confirmed that he has legit wheels. The 2021 recruit has played all 4 years in varsity and will look to be one North Georgia’s most dangerous players, capable of gamebreaking plays at any moment in the game.

Sleeper of the Day

William Clickner
2021 Shaw

Clickner transferred in from Pacelli HS and was a welcomed addition to the top 12 push by Shaw in 2019. At 6’5″ and over 200 lbs. he shows a very nice quick step and pretty quick hands getting off blocks. He does a good job of setting the edge. Clickner plays the outside well, and has a good motor. His length creates a fair amount of PBU’s at the LOS. Clickner is not well known as a high school recruit at this point, but watching him go against FBS caliber OL and see him create havoc makes us think that he will emerge with offers over the summer. The 2021 recruit should be easily over 250 lbs. at the next level. He has a good motor, always seems to be around the action and is an efficient tackler who gets the ball carrier down with proficiency. I really like the speed he shows getting out to the sideline. He definitely needs a lot of work in the weight room, but that indicates that he has an even bigger ceiling than anticipated. Clickner currently holds no college offers. He sports a 3.2 GPA. He is a projected D1 recruit in our book.
