Recruiting Recap 6/2

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! For those new, this feature is to count up yesterday’s offers and commits around the state of Georgia. Also we have three players who are seeing their recruitment heat up to go along with our always coveted sleeper of the day!

Hopefully college programs are getting some use from this feature, but if you want more detailed information please contact recruitgeorgia1@gmail.com. After looking at different companies Georgia database at AFCA back in January, there is little doubt in my mind that this is the most detailed 2021 database available to colleges.

Also feel free to checkout our player database or twitter each day for new profiles being posted.

Hope all is well! – David

Three Heating Up

Mykel Williams
2022 Hardaway

The 6’5″ 255 lbs. was one of the few sophomores to make our All-State team last year. Fast Forward to now, and the 2022 recruit is arguably one of the most coveted players in the entire country. In the last few weeks Miami, Ohio State and Clemson have offered. He is legit, and should be bumped up to a 5 star recruit. There is just not many athletes with his size that move this fluidly, and if he continues to improve like he has the first two years of high school, then Williams will be setting himself up for a long football career.

Willie Harris
2021 Bleckley Co.

Harris went about a month with out an offer and in the last two days both Akron and Grambling State have offered. The 2021 defensive tackle who had right about 100 tackles last year, if my memory serves correct, has close to double digit offers including FBS programs like Coastal Carolina and Georgia State on top of his recent Akron one. Harris has a legit motor, and is a threat getting into the backfield and creating a sack. Personally, we think the 6’2″ 280 lbs. defensive tackle will get more G5 interest here.

Aaron Gates
2023 Trinity Christian

Gates was honestly not on our radar until about early last month when FIU came in with an offer. The smooth moving safety prospect has solid size at 6′ 160 lbs. He has quick reactive back pedal and does a nice job of gauging the pass from a distance. Gates looks impressive, he has a good feel for the game, and shows very good body control/core strength for a 2023 recruit on film. Just yesterday UNLV offered, making the two FBS offers in the last month here. Gates will continue to develop no doubt, and definitely looks to be one of the best CB prospects we have seen from the class of 2023. Definitely a recruit to know about.

Sleeper of the Day

Teddy Davenport
2021 Denmark

Davenport has good concentration hauling in a pass, he knows the contact is coming but keeps his eyes on the pass. The quick little slot receiver has solid speed, but it’s his quickness that is more intriguing at this point. Against some of the tougher defense Denmark faced Davenport had solid contributions with a handful of catches, the biggest game coming later in the season against Flowery Branch. Davenport has gained about 10 lbs. since last fall and is almost up to 180 lbs. He will definitely be more explosive in 2020 here, and with Capers now graduated, the pass-targets are going to land somewhere, our bet is that Davenport sees a lot more balls his way and is set for a big senior year. A strong start to his senior year should really boost his recruitment here, so definitely keep an eye out on Davenport.
