Three Heating Up

Kanaya Charlton, 2022, Brunswick

The big man out of Brunswick High School had a huge week in terms of offers and we don’t use that term lightly – the sophomore is 6’6″ 320 lbs. It’s rare to see an athlete with his size pull across the LOS and look so quick. He’s already set academically with a 3.9 GPA and has scored a 22 on the ACT on his first attempt. Charlton was offered more than any 2022 prospect in the state last week with Minnesota, Maryland, Arkansas, Auburn, Arkansas, Miami, GT, and Texas A&M.

Dayne Shor, 2022, Denmark

Speaking of big offensive tackles, what about the Denmark rising junior Dayne Shor. His recruitment is quickly heating up, and he is becoming one of the more coveted offensive linemen not just in the state but the southeast. At 6’6″ and 295 lbs., the young but powerful linemen heard from a slew of programs last week including: FSU, Florida, Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan State, & Texas A&M. Needless to say, this is a deep class of OT’s in the state, and Shor is right at the top.

Kaleb Edwards, 2021, Dacula

Edwards made our All-State team last year as a junior with his cerebral play that always put him in the right spot on the field. Well, the month of April seems to be the right time of the year, because the 2021 safety prospect has earned offers from Boston College, UVA, Lousiana, UT-Chattanooga and Georgia Tech. The rising senior sports a 3.73 GPA and also a 3-sport athlete. At 6′ 195 lbs. he projects very well to play SS at the next level, and when decision time comes, he will have his pick of P5 programs to choose from.

Sleeper of the Day

David Alexander, 2021, Johns Creek

Alexander has very quick hands, plays with good leverage and rips though the blocker with very good efficiency. He has definitely been well trained, but shows the urgency you look for too. Alexander stands 6’3″ 235 lbs. and is up 10 lbs. since last fall. He plays on both sides of the football, but could very well continue to grow into a DT but probably projects best at SDE right now. Alexander searches and looks to destroy the ball carrier. He flies in pursuit from the backside cleaning up tackles. Tons of energy out there on the field, really says a lot for a player that got reps on offense and defense. Needs to get stronger in the hips and to improve his body control in general, Alexander needs to work on body control and core strength. Nice job playing the run does a very good job of sliding by blockers and getting into the backfield. He currently holds offers from Austin Peay and Urbana University, and someone we project as a no doubt D1 prospect.
