Sleeper of the Day
Martin Atkins
2026 Lee Co.
Edge
Lee County’s defense had some explosive talent in 2024 with several D1 caliber athletes flying around. Among those athletes is junior edge defender Martin Atkins, who seems to flying under the radar. The 2026 athlete had a total of 6 sacks on the year and tallied almost 70 tackles too. At 6’3″ and 230 lbs., Atkins has a good frame to grow into and be around 250-260 at the college level. A great motor after the football coupled with solid speed in pursuit gives Atkins the tools to be a legit FBS pass-rusher. Uses his hands well getting off blocks, seeing him take on double teams while lining up over the A gap shows the versatility, but more importantly physicality. We don’t have weightlifting metrics on Atkins, but undoubtedly, he is strong. Atkins needs to continue to sharpen up his footwork, get lower with his pad level to help with leverage. The 2026 has strong violent hands, disengaging blockers quickly and you have to love his hustle. Atkins will line up inside and bust his tail to the flats to make a tackle. Senior year, Atkins should be showcased on the edge more, and a double-digit sack season seems likely. As of now, Georgia State is his lone offer, but the dynamic athlete will find a recruiting foothold soon with more offers soon.

Three ‘n Out
The Pass 7v7 team traveled to Houston where one of our favorite receivers in the class of ’26, Frank Jackson, balled out. The dynamic 6’4″ pass-catcher made several top plays last fall where his length and basketball background high-pointed over defenders. Jackson does it again, especially in the last video where he catches the football while a DB drapes over him. Jackson has offers from Eastern Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, and Gardner Webb. Also, just a note, 7v7 is going national where teams travel across the country on the weekend to play in tournaments. There is no difference between 7v7 and AAU basketball at this point.

Pelham’s top offensive playmaker is still available! Michael Battle, one of the toughest backs in all of Class A runs hard between the tackles and churning out his feet. Great pad level and determination, plus immediately hits the hole hard. Battle was named Region Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 1352 yards and 13 touchdowns. Seems like a major steal here for a DII considering how hard he runs the ball.

Do you want to see a crazy weight lift? How about Xavion Johnson’s 550 lbs. squat he did yesterday? The 5’8″ 180 lbs. Clinch County prospect made one of the best lifts of the offseason with good depth on his squat too. Johnson is not just a hard worker in the weight room, sporting a 3.87 GPA and was also among the top playmakers for Clinch last fall. He will be an interesting prospect to watch closely this offseason, a breakout season at RB seems likely here in 2025.
