Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Hope everyone is doing well, and sorry for taking a week off, but had some work to do in the background, and was starting right at the start of the day.
Well, National Signing Day 1.0 has passed, and I’ll try to find out who all the signed seniors are at the moment. We are also working on All-State picks, so feel free to reach out. So outside of that, here is all of the recruiting news that occurred over the weekend.

Sleeper of the Day
Jones junior year was cut short, but came back strong, and showed why D1 schools were so interested during the last offseason. The 2021 athlete is very quick to react to the play and shows outstanding tackling in the open field. He comes in low and hits hard, blowing the ball carrier up. Created quite a bit of turnovers in 2020. Cannot teach how hard he hits in the open field. Jones definitely looks a lot better than his junior film now that he is completely healthy. He is a player that goes hard on each snap. I really like his hustle to the football. He goes in with bad intentions and shows no slow right before impact. His tackling fundamentals have taken the biggest jump in the last year, and you are seeing more textbook form where he drops his hips and explodes through the attempt. He accelerates through the ball carrier still. Agility has also improved, and you see the 2021 recruit sliding between the tackles and diving into the gaps to stop the play. He’s a very good athlete, and at the next level will need to play near the line of scrimmage to take full advantage of his skill set despite being a tad undersized. Jones is a downhill football player and is the type of athlete that can make an instant impact on special teams before getting reps on defense. You have to like his physicality and intensity when playing the game. He’s up to 190 now, and should easily be over 200 by the time he is in college. Jones’ latest offer comes from Shorter at the beginning of the month, and we think that colleges need to really check out his senior film here and see all of the improvements he made at a technical level because the hustle has stood out for years.
