Recruiting Recap 11/2

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Thanks for stopping, and for those have continued over the last 6 months of doing recaps weekly on the website. This is a feature that I’ve tried in years past but never got into the routine of making it part of my daily routine here. Maybe it was the onset of the pandemic or I don’t know, but now that we have recaps of up each morning, hopefully, we can continue to have an impact on the process at every level of football.

Well, enough pontifications, you are here to see the latest offers, commitments, and of course our sleeper of the day too. Hopefully everyone had a great weekend and a Happy Halloween! Take a moment and checkout our top 10 plays of the week if you haven’t already! – David

Commitments

Shakari Denson
2021 Claxton
Michigan State

Scoop: We have been all about Denson dating back to his sophomore year, and the 2021 recruit finally got his recruiting attention that he deserves. It started with a Georgia State offer earlier in October, then Kent State followed up, but what sealed the deal for Denson was a heavy-hitter like Michigan State. We have pegged Denson as a P5 football player for years, and maintained that evaluation despite the lack of offers. He has excellent ball skills, very quick to the play and is a tenacious tackler out in the flat. Michigan State just earned a commit from an excellent cornerback prospect who will step on campus with a chip on his shoulder. We expect him to get into the system and flourish at Michigan State.

Heating Up

Darren Agu
2022 Rabun Gap

Tucked away in the hills of North Georgia is one of the most dominant TE combos in the country. Rabun Gaps Marlin Klein started landing offers this time a year ago, now Darren Agu is up next. The 6’6″ 233 lbs. pass-catcher has seen a big uptick in offers. Iowa State, WVU, VT, Pitt and Georgia Tech all in the last 10 days here. Cannot teach his size and raw upside here, so definitely keep an eye on Agu. Also, a few more of his teammates from the class of 2022 look to be good ones too.

Sleeper of the Day

Robert Iverson
2021 New Manchester

At 6’2″ and 185 lbs., Iverson is still very much filling out his frame, but even so, his senior film is clicking with us. Just last game he ended up with 9 tackles and two interceptions. He always seems to be around the football, and for just his first year on defense you have to like the upside. Iverson leads his team in tackles. He has good length, and shows outstanding lateral quickness moving around blockers and getting into the backfield. Have to be impressed with his film here – New Manchester has played a tough schedule, including a top 10 ranked 7-A program in East Coweta where Iverson looked very good. What I like the most about Iverson is how he tackles. The 2021 recruit drops his hips and does a very good job of driving his legs through the attempt. Naturally a good athlete, he is able to take on blockers in the box using his length and settles into tackles naturally. Good pursuit, Iverson is a bouncy football player with a huge motor, and should continue to fill out his frame, making him one of the bigger steals in this recruiting class. He has great flexibility and watching him rotate his hips over while in pass coverage shows his upside as a MLB at the next level.
