Recruiting Recap 10/5

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Let me be frank at the beginning of this, it’s really hard to actually go through my Twitter page after a weekend, eventually we hit a wall where we cannot go back to far into the weekend, so I’ll admit that these Monday recaps are not going to be as accurate as the rest during the week. It’s just the nature of my Twitter page during the football season.

Now that aside, thanks for stopping by, and if you are new here this is a feature where we sum up all of the offers, commitments and also have a sleeper of the day down at the bottom. Some of the time we feature a player who is seeing their recruitment heat up, but that’s no always 100%.

I hope everyone had a good weekend, and was able to enjoy the fall weather. We got another week under way here, so continue to mask up and stay safe! – David

Commitments

Jayden Thomas
2021 Pace Acd.
Notre Dame

Scoop: Thomas has been one of the top receivers in this class for some time now. The 2021 recruit was a man-child as a freshman with a huge frame, and the elite ball skills that you still see today. He has become an explosive football player the last few years, capable of housing long runs after the catch. Thomas is also a baseball player, so the elite coordination comes to no surprise, but he really is on another level with his hands. Some of the best we have seen over the last 4 years here in the state of Georgia. Great pick-up for Notre Dame, they now have commits from arguably the two best receivers in the state now in Thomas and Colzie.

Sleeper of the Day

CJ McGarity
2021 Hiram

McGarity was a top performer at a camp recently this offseason, so he jumped onto our radar. Taking a glimpse at his film, and you see that the 2021 CB has some good instincts and nice explosive movements. He times his jumps pretty well and has a good feel at playing the ball. Really like how he undercuts the pass and he shows very good quickness in coverage. Nice reactive feet. Biggest area to improve is tackling consistency. He does a solid job in high school, but form is really all over the place, and would like to see him drop his hips and be more in control of the tackle. He’s about 5’11”, and looks to be about 180 lbs. You can definitely tell he is well coached, the general hustle and solid fundamentals are prime examples. Needs to get stronger in general, but there should be solid D1 interest in the 2021 DB. Right now, his only offers are from Bryant Univ. and Western Carolina – obviously we think he deserves more looks.
