Sleeper of the Day

Charles Maxell III
2025 Bowdon
Quarterback

As a junior, Maxell was part of a three-headed QB monster at Woodward Academy but was utilized as a runner. The senior moved over to Bowdon, the reigning Class A DII state champions, and has been a seamless transition for the 2025 passer. Through the final few weeks of the season, Maxell has thrown for about 1500 yards and has been efficiently running the football for about 380 yards. Maxell has not been asked to do too much. Bowdon has been handling business throughout the year, and that’s a major credit in the efficient 2025 QB. Maxell is a good dual-threat QB who can hit top speed in a few strides. Those chunks of yardage constantly reset the chains. He’s been very efficient throwing the football, hitting all of his receivers. Even with an elite pass target in Prothro, Maxell has film spreading the football to everyone. He is a tough dude. Stands tall in the pocket, shows a lot of confidence going through his progressions, and will deliver a tough pass while under pressure. The more, the better, and it’s a key area we look for in film. Maxell has produced at a high level. He will be very tough to stop in the playoffs where you can expect to see him run more, and you can see flashes of his creativity in the pocket during his midseason film. Come November, his rushing volume will continue. Maxell has seen college interest from varying levels. He has a 4.3 GPA and you can see that decision-making shine on the field too. College programs will be watching closely over the next month – that playoff film will be worth watching.

Three ‘n Out

Peachtree Ridge senior OT Dennis Uzochukwu continues to pile up offers during the 2024 season. The 6’6″ 280 lbs. Georgia State commit has seen offers from UAB, Northwestern, VT, Boston College, Charlotte, Oregon State, and Cincinnati recently. Just take a look at his North Gwinnett film where he is facing off against the top DL in the state, and playing excellently. Uzuchukwu tells RG that he will be taking a visit to Ole Miss this weekend and will be at Virginia Tech and Oregon State whenever he is next free.

Tojuan Peyton is on fire the last two games rushing for 700 yards and taking the 5A rushing crown with 1489 yards on the season. The Memphis commit has looked explosive in the open field, even hitting 21.6 MPH according to Reel Analytics. You have to think more colleges will get involved soon; Peyton’s senior performance is certainly eye-catching. His 421 yards and 6 touchdowns last week against Roswell was unbelievable.

Warner Robins freshman X’Zavier Cannon made an impressive play last week that didn’t make the top plays but deserves highlighting. The 5’10” freshman housed an 80-yard touchdown showing great acceleration as he glides by the New Hampstead defenders. Looks like the 2028 prospect will be one to watch in the coming years.
