Sleeper of the Day

Romando Craddock
2025 Stephenson
Linebacker

During the 2023 season, Craddock was among the best players in 4A but was playing primarily off the edge. The ultra-aggressive defender is now at linebacker, which is a better fit for the 6’2″ 220 lbs. athlete. So let’s take a look at senior film, and how Craddock plays in space. The Stephenson senior quickly shows that he can stick in man coverage, picking up a slot receiver on the first play, sticking stride for stride, and then making an interception. He is explosive tracking the football. Shows good acceleration out of his cuts, and does a great job of dropping his hips, and making a fundamentally sound tackle. Craddock strikes low and puts a cheek on a cheek, which has led to a few fumbles. He is a powerful hitter though, and that’s the hallmark skill on film. As a pass-rusher, Craddock still does a great job of shooting the gaps and just plays super low. As of now, Craddock is one of the biggest sleepers in this recruiting class. Maybe over a 40-yard difference, he is not going to outrun peers, but from 10 and 20 yards there is no discernible difference in speed. He is more flexible in the hips, looking good at rotating over in space, especially given his wider frame, and midseason film shows an athlete who is equally fluid yet powerful in pass coverage. Plus, we love the fact that Craddock can line up on the edge, and be an effective pass-rusher. That kind of versatility is great. FBS programs need to be all over him. Craddock reminds me of Kevin Swint out of Carrollton, who is an All-Conference performer for Georgia State.

Three ‘n Out

As reported at the top of the article, Zion Lawson decommitted from Vanderbilt, and Score’s Najeh Wilkins was all over it. Lawson talks about how Auburn and Georgia State stand out and why he no longer considers Vanderbilt.

Every week Malachi Fannin-Render seems to go over 200 yards, and the senior back did it again last night with 240 yards according to his trainer, Brad Lester. Fannin-Render seems like a certain lock to be All-State in 3A at this point. The LaGrange senior has 1250 yards on the year and is averaging 10 yards per carry. Marshall offered a month back, and we feel like more FBS programs need to jump on board. His account is @MalachiFannin2, which his trainer tagged an older inactive one.

Greene County senior Laryous Burt was covered earlier this season after a great performance that earned him weekly honors. That level of production has continued, and through 6 games Burt has 11 sacks. The 6’2″ edge rusher is an All-Region basketball performer. His length and agility are major factors in getting off and around blockers. The senior should grow into his frame and be around 220-230, which considering his speed, that will make him an impact player at the next level.
