Reese was the main playmaker at receiver last year for a Union Grove team that showed a lot of improvement under the newer coaching staff. Playing the football does seems to be a talent, and though he shows solid ball skills at WR, I’m a whole lot more intrigued by his play at FS. Reese is a good open field tackler, he closes well and really bottles up the athlete before he can make much of a move. Same burst allows him to separate as a receiver on deep passes. Shows good balance and above average coordination. Reese does a very good job of stepping up in run support and gets himself in solid position. Tackling needs to be more consistent. Right now Reese grabs on to a limb, and I would like to see him to be more consistent meeting the ball carrier at the waist. Definitely needs to get stronger, you see ball carriers get extra yard after tackles way too consistently. As a receiver, he shows some natural wiggle, and in tight spaces uses his above average quickness to get around poor tackle attempts. One of the better catches on film came around 4:20 mark. He goes out to the sideline and makes a wonderful 180 degree spinning catch where he does a good job of squaring up on the ball and toe tapping on the sideline – again, very coordinated. There are stronger athletes in his class no doubt – some of them are already maxed in the weight room. That’s not the case for Reese, who can almost make a 100 lbs. increase at every major lift. Couple that with his outstanding natural athleticism and hand-eye coordination, and you have yourself a senior sleeper to watch for.
