Lovelace will have to play OLB at the next level most likely unless he really packs on the weight the next few years. I love the way he comes off the line. He is relentless with his hands and just doesn’t seem to quit getting after the QB – seriously, Lovelace will run 20-30 yards to make a play. He shows good anticipation to the ball carrier. Reads the QB’s eyes well. Played against several D1 caliber QB on his schedule and gave them a heck of a time. Lovelace’s first step is really impressive, he works hard at the DE position. He does a really good job of occupying his assignment and doesn’t seem to get out his rush lane much. Pretty disciplined, and his quickness suggest that he has the athleticism to play OLB no problem. The 2020 recruit was the state power lifting champ in 3-A for his weight class, honestly, the next 6 months really could change how his recruitment plays out. He’s very quick and explosive with a big time motor. In the right defense you can plug a player like him into a 3-4 OLB spot and get good productivity since he is so good at rushing the QB but also playing the run too.
