Watson has been clocked at running a 23 mph sprint, and that has shown out on film throughout his junior year. The 2024 receiver prospect came up big, especially in the state title game where he had 10 receptions for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. The standout track athlete has shown out this offseason winning MVP for WR at one of the local MVP Camps. Watson shows good suddenness breaking on the football. He is able to release upfield and get quick separation from the cornerback. He is solid at selling his routes, but think he needs to continue to clean that part of his game up. You have to like his ability to come back and attack the pass. Watson is a legit playmaker who has a great connection with his QB. On top of having excellent top-end speed, Watson is able to highpoint the pass and make contested grabs with the defender draped over him. There are areas to be concerned about, specifically how much weight can he put on, and does he have the lateral quickness to get enough separation on short to intermediate routes. Watson’s production and dynamic ability to go deep and make game-breaking plays are evident on film, so we think more D1 programs will continue to express an interest in the 2024 wide receiver prospect.
