Helms is a long athlete who hustles out each play. He is sort of a hybrid OLB/DE, really took a jump his senior year and made All-State in Class 3-A. He was one of the sack leaders in the classification with 12 sacks and 26 tackles for loss. Even more impressive, Helms was one of the lead tacklers on his team, and was mostly playing off the edge – always a good sign for his motor. You have to like the hustle that Helms shows – he gives it his all from the backside and looks to make a big play even on special teams. Frame is really impressive, and over the last year he has added another 20 lbs of muscle. He won the discus state champ as a junior – should be a lot more explosive in 2019. Improved greatly getting out his stance and is using arms more to get off blocks. Was banking on Helms to breakout this fall, and he certainly did just that. His added weight and improvement with his fundamentals should attract D1 colleges.
