Mercer is one of the biggest sleepers in Georgia left in the 2018 recruiting cycle. When we were watching his freshman QB’s film we quickly noticed he was his go to target at TE, and he showed consistent hands. In the state semifinals game he had 19 tackles, 6 receptions and 2 TDs. He is a bone-crushing hitter, and does a great job of filling the hole. Mercer has strong hands, whether he is getting off a block, or making one he always gets good leverage. Mercer is a smart football player, he does a really good job of reading the defense or offense and adjusting on the play. He has a ton of upside at either OLB/DE or TE at the next level. Mercer is by far one of the most slept on players in Georgia and his versatility to play a number of positions at a high level should attract colleges from all over. He is also one of the best punters in Class A as well. He honestly did everything for his team, and my gut says he can add another 20-30 pounds and become a TE at the next level. Regardless he is an FBS football player.
