Johnson has been one of the leading tacklers the last few years at Sandy Creek. The slight linebacker will have to move over to a defensive back role at the college level. He does a nice job ripping through his blocks and is good at meeting the ball carrier in the hole. He does a very good job of tackling in the open field, shows very good patience and gets low on his attempt. Johnson is much stronger than expected considering his size. His field awareness and nose to jump through the gaps are his best skill, and that should still be a big part of his game playing out in the flat of a nickle-based defense where he should be very effective at getting around blocks and stopping screen passes and jet sweeps. Just go thru Johnson’s film, you can jump 5-10 mins forward and still see the 2021 recruit reacting to the play quickly and stopping the football before anything happens. He has good speed to the football with even better acceleration.
