What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?

4 year starter and top 5 tackler in high school (7-6A) GA high school football. AP student with 3.8 GPA. Huge dedication to education and football development. Gained close to 65lb of healthy muscle in 14 months while increasing speed, agility, and overall improvement.

The 6’2″ 235 lbs. edge rusher has some impressive metrics, such as a 33.2″ vertical jump and a max squat at 535 lbs. Notably, the vertical jump has improved by 7″ in the last year, which indicates an improvement in explosiveness. That is eye-catching, but more importantly, does his film do the same? Looking at junior year, the 6’2″ Butler is a tweener defensive end, but shows a nice quick-first step and above-average arm length to get off blocks. Out of his stance, Butler is fast and has good pad level. He’s aggressive, showing good motor after the football. Several chase-down tackles from the backside. Great leg drive while engaged and getting nice leverage on the offensive lineman. The senior can bull rush, and looks strong at the point of attack, but would like to see quicker hands coming off blocks. Doesn’t show much with swim moves. That said, his energy and explosiveness are undeniable, and his frame suggests more length than your normal 6’2″ defensive end. Butler is around 235 lbs., and he might be around 260 at the college level. His motor truly is a shining aspect to his game, and although his senior film is just one game, Butler looks noticeably more athletic.
