Ashley has good length and agility which allows for him to cover a good distance, especially in pass coverage. Marietta played him out in the flat a lot. At around 6’4″ he is able to rake out passes and disrupt short passed down the middle while also having the length to take on blockers and attack run plays out to the perimeter. His coverage skills are really encouraging. He claims a 36 inch vertical and 4.3 shuttle time, both of which are excellent for a player his size. He is pretty good at taking on blockers, but lacks the strength to get much of a push. Still, you have to like the activity he shows. Ashley is one of the more versatile edge defenders truthfully. We really like his upside in pass coverage but also playing some DE and living off the edge too. He needs to add muscle for sure, but there is good upside. We would like to see more explosive tackles his senior year and just better strength in general because his form/fundamentals are pretty good as a tackler, granted he could drive his legs more though the attempt.
