It’s no secret that we have liked Michael Dixon out of Statesboro for some time now. He’s a fluid moving athlete with excellent size. He’s still working on reading the football play, but his incredible athleticism makes up for those moments in HS. Dixon has all the potential to Be a dominant safety at the next level – he is an elite athlete. I want to lean with him being a SS for right now, but needs to improve his tackling fundamentals a bit more. A lot of schools across the country are going to see Dixon and be impressed as he gets off the bus, but what he does in between the lines matters most, and right now, his production is just solid for the high school level. Dixon has looked pretty solid defending passes down the middle over his junior year, his speed is evident and he can make plays that a lot of safeties cannot get to. Probably his best game we have seen came against West Laurens. Dixon tested out as one of the best athletes at the The Opening this spring, this is really no surprise, as we have maintained the junior safety is one of the best physical specimens in his class.
