What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?
I have made the region team all three years in high school so far, I have also broken the career TFL record and single season TFL record with 1 year left.
Wright was one of the top defensive linemen in 3A in 2023. The solidly built defensive end stands around 6’4″ and weighs 245 lbs. He plays with good intensity coming off the edge, timing the snap well, and having great activity with his hands and feet to get off blocks. Wright understands leverage well, playing with strong hands at the point of attack, and does a nice job getting underneath the OL’s pads. It helps to have a 79″ wing span too. He shows a compact swim move with good technique but still needs to be quicker. Wright plays with good pad level and consistently does a good job getting around the blocker. You have to like the patience he shows reading the mesh in the backfield and displaying solid lateral quickness considering his frame. He should grow into a good strong side defensive end at the next level weighing around 270-280. Wright’s intensity at the point of attack and good fundamentals should attract a lot of D1 programs his way. Wright has a 32″ vertical jump, and that’s pretty explosive considering his frame.
