Watkins is one of the hardest hitters in the defensive secondary in the state of Georgia. He comes downhill out in the flat with bad intentions and demonstrates an explosive element to his tackling that Power 4 schools look for. Watkins’ weightlifting numbers indicate he’s a highly functional athlete. His explosiveness is supported by a willingness and hunger to get after the football. The chase-down factor for Watkins suggests that he has a great motor. Considering he is a strong safety at the next level, Watkins looks pretty good in coverage, showing good hip swivel while in man coverage. At times, he even plays CB. The 2025 safety does a good job of playing with his hands and is strong at the point of attack when taking on a blocker. He is a screen buster, and given more time and experience, he should be extremely effective against spread offenses at the FBS level.
