What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?
My size along with my footwork. You don’t see a lot of people that have the footwork like I do that can also move. I was 2nd team all region offensive line as a Sophomore and 1st as a Junior.
Wesleyan has some jumbo athletes on the 2024 squad, and Lawson Koch is no exception. The senior stands 6’6″ and fluctuates around 250 lbs. Whether he lines up at OT or TE, the 2025 athlete uses his length well to get leverage on defenders and control the edge. With teams running jet sweeps and running guys in motion more than ever, having a big TE prospect who can control the edge will captivate college play callers. Koch has a 29″ vertical jump. That kind of raw athleticism at 6’6″ could translate well over to tight end. That said, we have evaluated and projected Koch to be an offensive tackle at the next level – senior film continues to support this projection too. He does an excellent job with his hand placement, allowing his length to get underneath the pads and just drive his legs through the block. Love his leg drive while blocking, Koch is a functional athlete who shows good body control while engaged. He needs to continue to sharpen up his footwork, especially while pass-blocking. He slides his feet well and has a good wide stance while in pass pro, but want to see those feet get organized faster. Koch has solid weight-lifting numbers and should be able to naturally pack on another 20-30 lbs. of muscle over the next 3-4 years. Couple that with a college nutrition program, and it seems like the Wesleyan senior should be around 290 in college.
