Shanks helped his team to their first Region championship in school history, upsetting the perennial favorites in Tucker. The 2025 QB is a true athlete on the field showcasing good acceleration into his top speed. He is a good thrower while on the run. Shanks has a powerful arm and can snap off a throw with little effort. He is a well-put-together athlete. Gained about 10 lbs. and is around 190 at this point in his development. Shanks has some legit arm talent with the ability to change arm slots and is a bear trying to tackle in the pocket. Shanks is able to break off tackles and does a solid job of keeping his eyes upfield. Shanks is also the best basketball player at his school making All-Region honors as a junior to go along with football honors, of course. Shanks is pretty conservative with his passes, but it seems like he has the arm talent to stretch the field a lot more than he does currently. It’s hard not to see Shanks film and consider how he might look at safety at the next level. Strong safety just looks like a natural fit for his athleticism. Senior year, and Shanks has already thrown for 770 yards in 3 games, showing that his passing has continued to progress, and that is promising. Shanks looks to be on target as DeKalb County’s leading passer by season’s end if he continues.
