Byron had a crazy junior year and was one of the most productive players in class 3-A with over 3000 yards of total offense on the season. He was one of the leading rushers as well, with around 1800 yards on the year. His production holds to film, and though he doesn’t hae elite speed, he shows excellent vision, initial acceleration and quickness to be an option quarterback at the next level. Byron has natural ability to read his blocks and time his sprint at the optimal time. He is a shifty athlete, shows a ton of resiliency fighting off tackles. He has really good balance, and can keep his feet on tackle attempts at the feet. When he runs out of space, Byron drops his shoulder and gets as many yards as possible, doing a nice job of churning his feet on contact. Needs to get lower though, and gets driven backwards in some cases. Byron can also play receiver at the next level no doubt too. This summer I watched him at the Corky Kell throw the football live in a 7v7 format, and what I came with is his ability to hit the intermediate passes regularly. He can get the ball over top the first level of a cover 2 zone or has the zip to take advantage of the side lines in man or cover 3. Even against elite teams like Grayson, the 2019 QB got in a groove and led his team to victory. Byron looked to be one of the best players nobody knew about at the event that day. Fully expect him to dominate this senior year and should win Player of the Year in 3-A. Option teams would be crazy not to take a serious look at the Monroe Area athlete.
