Edwards is more of a linebacker than anything for Carrollton, playing almost exclusively off the edge. What I like about the 2021 recruit is how well he tackles on blockers and his ability to get to the outside and push the ball carrier back into pursuit. He does a really good job of that, and some of it is in part due to his impressive lateral quickness, but Edwards also hustles his tail off. He makes a good bit of backside tackles. Very secure in the open field, definitely a strong player. You can tell how he engages a blocker how strong his upper body strength really is. He tackles a little high, but he’s so strong for a 175 lbs. player that he gets the ball carrier down efficiently more times than not. He’s definitely a hybrid type of player, someone you would like to see in a nickle based defense. Edwards needs a little more work in pass coverage. Almost all of his plays are against the run, and he definitely has a nose for the ball, and his ability to chip a blocker and getting into the backfield is pretty impressive.
