Smith is a bull out there on the field with a stout 6’2″ 245 lb.s frame. Give the 2021 recruit enough momentum and watch him just blow right by the offensive lineman. He does have much in terms of pass rush moves, he’d rather just bull rush right thru the blocker. He is a strong tackler, getting the ball carrier down quickly. Smith engages with the offensive linemen with strong hands at the point of attack and provides a nice initial push right on contact. Smith also does a nice job of setting the edge. He has very good run stopping instincts. Reads the play quickly and does a good job of staying in his lane not to overpursue. He looks like a good 4 down lineman SDE at the next level. Smith really needs to work on his agility and explosiveness coming out his stance. If he bulks up over the next year, then he could very well get some looks at DT. I really like the energy he shows on each play and the all out determination he has to stop the ball carrier. Senior year that hustle is really paying off, and the senior is leading all DL in the state with 115 tackles, over 30 tackles for loss for the top 10 ranked Collins Hill.
