At 6’3″, West has the length similar man in his family who have line up at Carver-Columbus. The lanky defensive back gets his hands on the football, and picked off several passes in 2023 where he snags tipped passes. West has good quickness, a nice back pedal where he does a nice job of sinking his hips and showing light feet on his drops. Needs to continue to get quicker in the hips. Shows good speed once he flips over and can stick with fast receivers down field. West is a solid tackler, showing good urgency coming up in the flat to make a tackle. Would like to see him get more consistent where he strikes, and not rely on arm tackling too much. West hits with impact though, and has a good motor flowing to the football. Considering his length, and general feel at cornerback, it seems like West deserves a lot more D1 interest. With no senior film up, we have to rely on a few clips on Twitter where he does block a punt, but knowing the totality of his progression over the last 12 months, is unknown for now. That creates an opportunity for a college to jump into the frey and seize on the opportunity that West presents, but that said, it would nice to have some senior film.
