Jakoby Diamond is the cousin to our 2022 Class 4A Player of the Year, Harlem Diamond, and just like his kin, Jakoby plays the game the right way with a lot of intensity and passion. Diamond is a powerful defensive tackle prospect who can squat over 600 lbs. and plays with a low center of gravity, which allows him to anchor the middle extremely well. Off the hoof, Diamond shows good fluidity for his frame and strength, so he changes directions pretty well. Couple Diamond’s good agility with his elite strength, and you have a stout defensive tackle prospect who rightly earned Region Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2023. He is intense off the snap and consistently gets good leverage while taking on blockers. Diamond plays with really quick hands too, and can get off blocks with this nice over move. Shows good balance keeping his feet on cut blocks while playing DE, shoots the gap, and makes a lot of nice tackles from the backside. Diamond recently power cleaned 365 lbs., which suggests that he has made some explosive gains this offseason. Diamond is a strong candidate for All-State in 2024.
