Smith is an underrated defensive back prospect from Lanier. The 2019 DB found his hands on the football a good bit, and does a nice job playing underneath coverage where he can shadow receiver well using his quickness. He’s a smart player for sure, seems to rotate his hips quickly and changes directions well. Smith a pretty quick first step, but all good enough speed not to get burned. Tackling in the open field is very good for a guy his size, but still concerned how his tackling will translate at the next level – Durability is a concern. Smith upped his game senior year with 88 total tackles, 4 INT’s and 7 PBU’s while also causing two fumbles too. He can definitely play some competitive college football – no doubt.
