Sims is a ball-hawk at free safety. On running plays he does an outstanding job of getting after the ball-carrier. More impressively, is his instinctual skill at reading the QB’s eyes in pass coverage. He does a great job of rotating his hips and flowing to the direction of the pass and breaking it up or getting the interception. Sims has excellent acceleration and his solid build (185 lbs) creates big-hits. If the pass is telegraphed, Sims makes you pay.

This season Sims moved over and played offense primarily where he was a favorite target for stud QB Jarren Williams. Sims raw athleticism makes him extremely dangerous on deep post and fly routes. He is more than capable of catching a bubble screen and taking it to the house but where he thrives is on deep passes. We did not see much action in the short to intermediate game, but you see the potential, because he is athletically gifted and should become natural with more reps. You could see his ball skills last year when he played at Gainesville at FS and that has translated over nicely to his WR play in his SR year at Central Gwinnett. Sims versatility should attract schools as we enter the later stages of the recruiting process where teams are trying to fill out their remaining spots.
