Hughes is a quality athlete with above average size at 6’3″. He played both RB and OLB this year, but is a defender all the way in college. He’s pretty strong with his hands scraping off blocks. The senior defends the edge well, and does a quality job of pushing the ball carrier back into pursuit. I think the 2019 recruit end up around 235-240 in college and be a SAM. He needs to work on his lateral quickness more and get stronger in the hips. Tackling angles could be better, and too many times we see him struggle to get the ball carrier down. Hughes has excellent speed and size – this upcoming season he could really turn the corner.
