Bax’s recruitment has picked up steam during the spring. The big fella out of Walton does a very good job with his hand placement and getting good leverage on the defender. He plays with a wide base and good leg drive into his block. Definitely the frame of an OG. Still has a lot of weight to gain, but definitely like his arm length. That really helps Bax drive the defender out of the play. Bax keeps a pretty flat back while engaged and shows good hip explosion popping out his stance. Bax is a solid prospect for run heavy teams. His length and energy will eventually match his strength, and you’ll get a solid college OG for years to come. As a pass blocker he does a decent job sliding his feet, but definitely could get quicker. Bax could also work more on his core strength and just do a better job of keeping control of his body while engaged. I would also like to see him get lower with his blocks, at times he can be too upright. We suspect more FCS schools will get interested in Bax as Walton figures to be a major player this fall.
