What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?

Work ethic

Winston is one of the more natural tight ends we have scouted over the last 5 or so years. He stepped onto the scene as a freshman and immediately produced at a high level. That stellar performance was followed up by an All-State season as a sophomore, and another as a junior with 950 yards receiving. Winston has been the most consistent receiving tight end in the state over the last 3 years. The numbers are not debatable. Where some evaluators might debate is his 6’2″ frame, and how well the contested catches he makes at the high school level will translate over to college. It appears that Winston has long arms from his run blocking, and his catch radius is quite wide. What we do know is that Winston is a great route runner, who does a great job of digging into the defender and exploding out his cuts to get separation. He has very good top-end acceleration for his size and shows good urgency coming out of his release. Winston is looking to make plays after the catch. He has reactive feet, stepping out of tackle attempts and showing good balance bouncing off tacklers for extra yardage. Love his determination and willingness to punish the 2nd level of the defense. On shortage plays, Winston is money and someone you can just toss the ball out to the flat. In fact, Calhoun runs a lot of screens for Winston. Over the last few years, the 2025 tight end has grown as a blocker and improved his leverage and general location with his hands. There is a lot of upside with his physicality and wide frame to be a great blocker in college. Among tight ends in this class, we feel like the Texas commit is among the most polished and has one of the highest floors you can find.
