Irving just got over 200 lbs. this fall. He is definitely one of the more instinctual linebackers in this recruiting class, making All-Region his sophomore year, and being a team leader in tackles. Play recognition stands out right away with Irving. He is in the backfield fast, and shows good lateral quickness changing direction in the tackle box. Irving reacts to the play a lot quicker than pretty much on the Hapeville team – and in 2019 they were loaded with FBS talent. Jumping into junior film and he even looks more explosive – you can see the added muscle is making a difference. He is a solid tackler, gets pretty low on his attempts, would like to see more leg drive. Closes on the ball carrier well and takes good pursuit angles. Next step in his game is to create more turnovers.
