Mixon shows a ton of athletic upside, and from watching him on film I really like the natural bend he shows at the hips. There is no doubt he is raw as can be, but he shows good aggression with both his hands and feet while blocking. He needs work in the weight room. You can see that both on film and looking at the raw numbers. Still, I like the leg drive he shows while run blocking, and he doesn’t get too high while engaged, which is promising for a player his size. As a pass blocker his footwork needs work, his kick step especially, but he shows naturally light feet and is plenty quick to stay in front of the defensive end. Mixon is a big talent to work with, and over the next few years he could develop to be a better offensive lineman than most of the prospects in the class. No doubt in my mind that FBS schools will eventually offer the big man – it’s just hard to find OT’s with his size. Mixon has gained 25 lbs over the last 6-8 months.
