Mayfield serves as both a LB and FB for Flowery Branch. The junior meets his opponent square in the numbers. Speed is just average, and would like to see him react to the play a little quicker, honestly needs more time and reps at linebacker more than anything. Mayfield shows above average lateral quickness, he has a good wide frame to him. Playing faster, improving where his eyes are, and not falling for fakes are areas to improve. Mayfield is a big time hustler; if he gets a beat on the play, he does a pretty good job of coming from behind and tackling. Needs work sliding his feet keeping his pads parallel to the line of scrimmage. The 2020 recruit made All-Region for a team that was ranked in the top 10 in 4-A almost the entire year, there is no doubt that he can play football at the next level. There is a really good frame to work with too, Mayfield should be hovering around 220 by the time of next fall. His 4.95 laser 40 time is solid for a player his size, and you have to be impressed with the quickness he shows – Mayfield is a promising recruit that should attract local colleges’ interest.
