QB Hitlist Scouting report
SIZE:
Colby has good size for a 2020 Dual Threat QB at 6’2” 175 lbs. He’s very difficult to contain within the pocket. A tough running QB who shows very good acceleration and elusiveness. Throws with a tall platform able to increase the extension of his passes, adding height to his throws. He’ll be able to add bulk to his frame over these next couple years before entering the collegiate level.
ACCURACY:
His throws are made with very good ball location, allowing for his receivers to make a play on it. He works quickly out of the pocket with quick hitters. Good anticipation and timing of his receivers routes.
ARM STRENGTH:
A major area of strength for Colby. Shows good form and arm extension on his release, allowing for greater torque and momentum upon delivery. High velocity throws made at the short and intermediate range. Solid vertical passing game.
RELEASE:
Displays very good throwing mechanics and proper foot placement prior to set up and release. He throws with an over the top delivery and a high release point.
THROW ON RUN:
Colby demonstrates excellent lateral movement and quickness getting to the outside. Throws with strong forward momentum. He’s quite dangerous out in the open field, capable of making big plays.
FOOTWORK:
Quick footed with the ability to change directions in a hurry. Shows good vision, allowing for his blockers to set the path. Bursts of speed with separation potential. Nice footwork on drop-backs and set ups prior to release.
POISE:
Colby controls the pace of the game with his play. He’s a playmaker, capable of taking over a game. Does a nice job working through his progressions, from primary to secondary outlets.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Able to work through the play in a hurry, leaving the defense with no time to react.
DECISION MAKING:
He does a nice job working through his options, making a quick decision based on defensive coverage. A quick hitting QB who able to get the ball to his primary target in a hurry.
TOUCH:
Able to adjust the velocity of his throws, creating for a softer release.”

Bell was the guy last fall at Walnut Grove, and just watching his film you can see he has a true gunslinger mentality. Bell has a pretty strong arm where he uncorks some high velocity passes, but also shows a nice touch from intermediate range lofting the pass over the 2nd level of the defense. Bell has a snappy release, makes some throws without his feet completely set but still gets good strength on the pass. Release point is a bit low, which doesn’t do him any favors considering his height. Really impressed with the agility he shows in the pocket. The throws he makes down the middle showcases the ability to read a defense but also the timing needed to place the ball in the right window. Bell is a good little dual threat QB, I can see him doing very well this fall at George Walton. His quickness he showcases indicates he could play some slot receiver in fact.
