Johnson has a 6’9″ wing span and is nearly 6’5″, s length is definitely an advantage for the 2021 recruit, but he also plays with a ton of urgency to boot. The standup edge rusher has above agility and is pretty effective defending the read option. Change of direction is very good, cannot express that enough. Very slender frame, only adding about 10 lbs over the last year. Johnson sheds blocks easily, he should continue to add weight over the next year, and even at 225 his production could really spike senior year. Nice energy coming from behind in pursuit. Needs to get strong in the hips and quicker out his stance. Flexibility needs to improve. Johnson has some considerable upside as a pass-rusher, but also like to see him continue to cross train even and play some OLB too, especially if weight gain doesn’t improve much.
