Alexander showed some legit speed on the track his sophomore year running a sub 11 sec time as an underclassman. The 2023 running back has not filled out his frame much, but what he does show is constant breakaway speed on film. He has a natural good forward running stride and is able to slip out of arm tackles for that reason. Even though he is just 170 lbs., Alexander has pretty good balance and will finish off a run looking to drop his shoulder into the defender. I like Alexander’s top end acceleration, but he also shows good change of direction when making a cut, and then utilizing that top end speed to up field fast. There is obvious upside here as a receiver. In fact, he has more of a frame to be a WR. You have to like his solid vision when running the football. He has above average vision, making pretty well timed cutbacks. What we would like to see is a true breakout season for the 2023 recruit. He has the potential for a big senior year, and he is definitely worth tracking this spring on where his 100m time ends up. We are leaning more with an FBS projection for Alexander, but it’s contingent on how he improves this offseason.
