Carozza has logged good reps the last few years on the varsity. He’s very aggressive getting off his blocks and shows above average ability to change direct for a 2020 linebacker. Very good in pursuit, takes solid angles. His ability to change directions side to side and make plays in the tackle box seems like a natural fit. Looks to have a good concept of zone defense already, does a good job of reacting to the play and timing a good breakup. His top end speed is good and I like his frame at the next level and should get over 230 just fine. Played well as a junior at Denmark playing off the edge. Very strong tackler, gets the ball carrier down quickly and efficiently. Doesn’t hesitate, once he gets a beat on the play Carozza attacks with every fiber of his being. Carozza needs to work on sliding his feet and not hop as much moving laterally at the start of the play – it should improve his pursuit angles so he takes more direct hits and doesn’t have to do as many arm tackles. No doubt, the 2020 recruit is a very good athlete, and can get to spots that a lot players cannot. Wouldn’t be surprise to see him get blitzed more next year. Should absolutely be considered a D1 recruit with his size and speed.
