Overton was an All-Region TE selection after being of the 7A leaders with 32 receptions, 433 yards and 5 receiving touchdowns at the position. That’s going up against a tough schedule. Overton split out at receiver a good bit, but also lined up at the LOS. Overton is a solid athlete with an above average frame to break off tackles and continue to move forward. He doesn’t blow you away with speed initially but once he gets a head of steam there is a nice running stride and the 2022 eats up yardage pretty fast. He made a few nice high-pointed catches over the defense. Overton is a solid route runner. He isn’t going to fake you out of your shoes but does a nice job finding gaps in the defense. Pretty quick feet on his release. Needs to work on getting more explosive. The more I watch Overton’s film the more you like it. The extra yards after contact, a few on key first downs too. Very subtle with his jukes but they work. Nice spin move that he throws way more than your normal TE. DB’s have a heck of a time getting the 2022 recruit down. In terms of blocking, Overton doesn’t really have a lot of film there. Overall it looks like he could really take a jump in the weight room and be an even tough matchup here in the fall. Overton is impressive, and this fall he could really boost his stock even more. Well, first game of his senior year Overton led all TE’s in the state in receiving yards with right at 150, including a long 60 yarder. Overton just keeps on producing, at some point some D1 schools will have to offer outside of Southern.
