What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?

Hello, My name is Caleb Thomas, class of 2019. I started playing football at the age of 7. Every year of recreation football, I received the award of offensive and defensive lineman of the year. My freshman year of high school, I received impact freshman of the year award. On the varsity level I played defensive tackle, left tackle, right tackle, middle line backer and tight end. During the 2017 season I was named one of the players to make the 1-6A 2nd Team-Offense team. I was also awarded the “Big Hammer” award. My passion is defense. I love being on the defensive end, because defense wins championships. Due to my size I believe I will prosper on the defensive end on the collegiate level. Although defense is my passion, I can play on the offensive side as well. Where ever my team needs me, I will step up and play that position.

My collegiate goals are to receive a Bachelors in Science in Health and Physical education and to play football on the collegiate level with hopes of making it to the professional level. Playing on the collegiate level will be a reward for all my hard work that I have put in since day one of me playing football. I also aspire to play on the college level because it will be a way to help finance my college education because education is important and the key to having a successful life even after my football career ends. I am a good candidate for any team that will have me because I work hard to perfect the position I am told to play; I am a team player; when I am on a team I know that I represent that organization and I will be honest and an example on and off that field for that team; I play hard to win; I do not quit; I give 100% at all times; and I am teachable.

I believe that your character is all that you have at the end of the day and with that being said, I will remain respectful, I do not associate with things or people that can distract me from being the best man I can be. As far as my athletics, I am athletic by nature but I continue to work hard to become a better athlete by participating in agility training and strength training on my own personal time. I understand that my academics are more important than my athletic abilities and I am currently working to improve my study habits so that my academics reflect my athletic skills. To whomever considers me, I promise you won’t be let down.

Thomas comes in with a background of playing dominating football in the trenches most of his life since he was a young kid. It’s not always about his size or strength, but the relentless motor and solid fundamentals that give him the edge. He gets solid leverage while engaged and plays out his role well occupying the middle of the defense. Thomas is just an average athlete, but should be able to add another 40 or so lbs to his frame and be around 300. He played his junior year at Houston Co. was a solid player all throughout HS.
