Niehr recently broke the school record, running a 200m time of 21.34, and that’s going to grab about anyone’s attention, especially for a sophomore WR. That’s the kind of speed that should not only translate, but is flat-out better than some of the top slot receivers we have ever scouted at his age. Coming off the line, Niehr can struggle with physical play, but once he is off, the 2028 WR has the wheels and route-running proficiency to catch defenders off guard. He rocks them to sleep, and before you know it, there are 5 yards between the defender and that skinny post or seam. Absolutely love how he comes back to the pass, attacking the football, showing strong hands, catching away from the body. Makes several tough catches over the middle of the field through contact. Impressive change of direction in his route running, shuttle time is almost certainly below a 4.3. At 5’11” and 175 lbs., Niehr has some of the best speed at his position for the entire 2028 class. Niehr is the type of prospect that should have FBS schools extremely interested. Next season, we would like to see him get into the return game on special teams, maybe a few more screen passes out to the flat, the added muscle should lead to more broken tackles. He should really test out well at camps and is set for an exciting JR season, albeit he will have to adjust to not catching passes from his older brother, who started at QB.
