Lackey had 24 total touchdowns in 2019, 19 through the air and 5 on the ground. His Sonoraville team was rock-solid, and the signal caller did a good job of engineering the offense. He has good footwork in the pocket, feels pressure pretty naturally, but would like to see him get lighter in the feet too. The fundamentals are there for sure. Lackey is built like a bull, and is not an easy QB to get down in the pocket, but even more impressive is how he keeps his eyes up field even after taking contact – a lot of QB’s just tuck their heads and run up field. He definitely can do some damage running between the tackles and defensive backs have a heck of a time getting him down. Lackey has good timing with his throws, he has a nice touch placing the ball on the sideline. He does need to improve arm strength, and work on his release point getting higher. He’s a smart player for sure and does a nice of reading the defense, never commits to the play if the defense covers it up and overall I like his potential to be a solid college QB, and even potentially being an h-back as a backup too. He should be close to 230 at the next level.
