Guthrie is an often talked about QB from Alpharetta who the staff has consistently raved about. He is an intelligent dual-threat QB with competent arm strength to stretch the defense. His accuracy is on point and he is able to make precise throws at the intermediate level. That has helped the 2023 recruit make several game-winning throws now in his career where he is able to scramble, create time and thread the needle for a score. Guthrie is good at running the spread selling his mesh with the RB and making quick accurate reads. His agility and ability to manipulate inside the pocket and then the vision to take off and run is some of the best in this recruiting class. He has gained a little weight for his senior year and showing a little more patience when reading the defense. Guthrie stays cool under pressure and the added muscle has added some extra oomph to his passes and is certainly throwing the football further down the field too. His shuttle time and vertical have improved over the last year too. Colleges will knock the senior because of his height, but he makes great reads and has proven to be a clutch decision-maker. Plus cannot teach some of what he does in the pocket where he buys more time and makes creative plays on the fly.
