Mixon was among the most efficient passers in the state during the 2023 season compiling 2673 total yards, 37 touchdowns, and a QBR of 113.8. Heading into 2024, he is a candidate to be All-State for Class 3A-A Private by season’s end, but more importantly, in the near term, his team looks to be a capable contender to push far into the newly formed private playoffs. Mixon has good patience while in the pocket. He settles into his drops and does a great job going through his progressions. Throwing motion is more of a 3/4 slot, and needs to speed up his release. Mixon throws a nice catchable pass with a soft touch down the sideline on his intermediate throws. On deeper passes, he consistently hits his receiver in stride. Mixon is a capable runner, he comes from a family with good athletes, so he will get behind his pads and get vertical with his runs. His physicality and ability to read his blocks better than most QBs created about 800 yards on the ground as a junior. If he takes a jump with his lateral quickness, then a 1k-yard rushing season could be in reach, plus it would with maneuvering around the pocket and escaping from the pass rush. Speaking of which, Mixon shows good composure while under pressure and is comfortable sliding his feet where he naturally feels the pressure, keeping the play alive, and more importantly, his eyes downfield. Mixon has been a starter for two years now, and he took a nice jump going from 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions to 26 and 7. Now, where does he land senior year, and where can he lead Savannah Country Day in this newly formed Private playoffs? Not 100% sure just yet, but either way, I can see college programs from around the area taking a great interest in his senior season. He should put up big numbers.
