Dean needs to be more physical at the point of attack, he seems to get on his heels too easily and needs to work on overall body control. He has a nice motor though, and I like what I’m seeing with the weakside tackles that he cleans up. There several situations where he is running 15 yards down field, so there is a motor to his game. One thing I have noticed with the Lanier Co coaching staff is well trained they are in the weight room, and Dean has very solid numbers for a junior. It’s pretty clear that he will grow into a DT at the next level. I think one of the biggest things for Dean is driving his legs through the tackle, sometimes he just ends up wrestling the ball carrier a little too long for a 270 lb player. Very interested in his potential as an OG too. He’s a gray area player for me, has some decent potential to play at the next level, and I’m very impressed with his ability to change directions, it’s obviously one reason why he plays DE for his team.
