Abdul-Barr had a very good freshman year and showed all the makings of an elite talent. He earned an early offer from UMASS but over the last year has not seen additional offers. Schools like Kentucky and Mich State are showing interest during his junior year. He’s added about 15 lbs. to his frame since his freshman year and has not grown much more in terms of height. He has excellent body control going up for a grab and one of the better red-zone targets in his class. Very strong now, but doesn’t always gauge the football so that he can high-point at the apex of his jump. He just doesn’t take advantage of every inch, and that will be exploited in college. Abdul-Barr got some reps at defense this year though, and I could really see him making strides there in the next year. He needs to be more physical getting off blocks. He is a plus athlete but needs to see him make a bigger jump with his strength and I think should really focus at OLB.
