What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?
“For the current season, I received class A region 3A co-player of the year award, 1st team all region award, Savannah morning news player of the week, player of the week for the quarterback club, player of the week for the Karl Demasi espn local radio show. For my school, Savannah country day school, I set a new season rushing record as well as a new total rushing record. At Scds, I received the Stuart sleigh award for scholastic, athleticism, and character, the mvp award, the offensive player of the year award, and I was a captain on the team.
What makes me standout is I run hard every play and I follow my game plan. I will always run behind my pads and I will fight for every yard.”
Byck did it all for his team and was the leading rusher in Class A Private to our knowledge, even in the regular season. The 2018 recruit is a tough player with a strong core and can take on contact and gain additional yardage. He’s got fairly light feet, and the biggest takeaway more than anything is he hits the hole hard. The senior has really good balance, he takes some big hits but stays upright. That sort of determination and short yardage quickness makes Byck an interesting recruit. He doesn’t have top end speed, we saw him get run down on most long runs, but he gets chunks. His team was a surprising group this year getting deep into the playoffs. Byck is a good gadget type of player, you can use him on 3rd downs, and just from watching the way he runs the ball I’m willing to bet he can be great in pass protection.
